Nov 18,  · "Everybody Wants to Shag the Teardrop Explodes" was the mooted title for their debut album (which eventually became Kilimanjaro) when it was scheduled to be issued on Zoo. The liner notes for To the Shores of Lake Placid make this clear and identify the early version of 'When I Dream' included on that album as coming from the sessions for that.

Feb 12,  · Kilimanjaro first came out in the UK in October on the Mercury label [ ]. It arrived in a mostly dark sleeve bearing a picture of the band's four members rather than the zebras of the alternative cover when 'Reward' was added to the album, which has been re-used for our UMC g vinyl reissue [ 7] as seen here.

The opening drum fill of "When I Dream" almost paints Kilimanjaro as a candy-coated Closer, as it ends the album with a gleeful take on that iconic intro ("These are cheesy synths, step inside!"--not really). And, so, The Teardrop Explodes are stuck in that .
