The album was produced by Donovan, save for “Homesickness”, the record's sole electric rocker, produced by Mickie Most either from sessions in or 69, as Donovan and Most stopped working together after the Barabajagal sessions. Mastered from the Original Analog Masters.

Recorded around the time of Donovan's first daughter's birth (future indie singer Astrella Celeste who has sung with him several times), this didn't get big notice on the charts perhaps because it was partly unoriginal, many of the songs are adaptations of children's poems including two Lewis Carroll works- the album opens with a hilarious eight minute rendition of "The Walrus in the Carpenter /5(35).

The quote “‘The time has come,’ the walrus said” is used as code between Irene Dunne and Clive Brook in the film If I Were Free. Scottish singer and songwriter Donovan put the poem to music on his album, HMS Donovan. In the episode "I'm a Poet" from the first season of Arthur, Arthur and Buster read poems at the library.

The Walrus and the Carpenter Walked on a mile or so, And then they rested on a rock Conveniently low, And all the little Oysters stood And waited in a row. (Spoken) "The time has come," the Walrus.
