Album Review: Pulp - This is Hardcore In , reluctant Britpop icons Pulp released Different Class, a disco deconstruction of the class divide propelled by the smash-hit lead single Common caregluperpamobippanngerosnana.coinfog to the top of the charts and winning the Mercury Prize, Different Class firmly placed Pulp into the Britpop big league. Not long after, the movement fell apart.

People who thought Pulp was just a "nice singles band" after hearing "Disco " or the singles that make up "Intro" (see review) will surely be captivated by "This is Hardcore" Now I am fully aware that Different Class is a great album, but "This is Hardcore" is to be frank The Buisneez. One of the best allbums ever made/5(59).

this is hardcore is my favourite pulp album and one of the best albums of the 90s. i have the regular album, the 2 cd set with the concert and now also this deluxe edition with outtakes, b sides etc. wow, great stuff to discover! it is difficult to understand that cocaine socialism did not find the way to the album or was released as a single.

"This is the sound of someone losing the plot/you're gonna like it, but not a lot." So says Jarvis Cocker on "The Fear," the opening track on This Is Hardcore, the ambitious follow-up to Pulp's breakthrough Different Class, thereby providing his own review for the album. Cocker doesn't quite lose the plot on This Is Hardcore, but the ominous, claustrophobic "The Fear" makes it clear that this.

Pulp prove that they still know how to make some fast danceable music when they want to. "Party Hard" has a strong rhythm, while "The Fear" and "This Is Hardcore" feature some great bass guitar work. The music is fairly catchy overall; there are many tracks that I hum to myself for days after listening/5(63).
