It's not the "traditional" Blood, Sweat & Tears approach. (it's not far off from the previous effort "New Blood"'s approach, but I very slightly prefer this record. They're both great though.) The album lacks the "intellectually" ambitious arranging genius of Halligan and Lipsius. But it's slightly more "Rock-ward" slant is perfectly justifiable/5(8).

There is a datedness to Blood, Sweat and Tears and Chicago. (With Chicago, it's not only datedness but dorkiness.) Obviously, Clayton-Thomas had stronger vocals than Al Kooper (who established B,S and T, and was their first lead singer), but the man always sounds constipated.

Blood, Sweat & Tears are no strangers to oldies radio but even so, they only have a handful singles in constant rotation: "You've Made Me So Very Happy," "Spinning Wheel," "And When I Die," and maybe "Hi-De-Ho." "You're the One," a Top 10 Adult Contemporary single from , is rarely heard and that's just one of many songs released on the A- and B-sides of singles released between and.
